History

A long time ago, a secret war broke out between heaven and hell, each of which uses humanity as its pawns. While the First Evils of Hell were at war, their junior lieutenants conspired to overthrow them. They rioted suddenly with the combined forces of hell, overwhelming the three Primes.

Stripped of their power, they were banished to the mortal realm. The human agents of Heaven, upon discovering this, found the three Primes and sealed them inside the prisons of precious stones, each of them sent to a different corner of the earth and kept in custody to prevent them from escaping.

However, as the years pass to the centuries, the power of the agents of heaven vanished, until, finally, not even the people of the city of Tristram knew that the soul of the Lord of Terror, Devil, was buried deep in his chapel. As the strength of his prison vanished, Diablo spread out into the world, corrupting the dreams of the good king of the earth and forcing him to attack his neighbors.
